i bought a 50-pack i believe of memorex cds (not sure, but they sell them at
best buy so they're probably very common) on the spool, no jewel cases, and
the CDs are entirely unmarked, priced at about $50 total. they do scuff very
easily though, and the quality when compared to some others might not be as
good; i can't really tell myself though.
there are also discs manufactured by mitsui that are blank but have a frosted
top surface. those i've seen come in jewel cases with a printed traycard
insert, easily replaced or removed. i personally prefer this for my archiving
purposes, if only because at a glance there's no doubt which side is which.
also, easier to write on while still not having a label. more just an
aesthetic thing though really.
as for the philips specifically, can't help you there, sorry
matt
