normally i don't get too excited about major label mix CDs but i just got this
new one which is pretty awesome... "ACID RESISTANT II" (smile sm8028-2) mixed
by DJ DB.
it's all the cologne school of stuff (air liquide, mike ink, etc...). i like
it because it's not all straight up 4-on-the-floor 909 beats. in fact, it
starts out with some wicked slow crushing distorted hip hop loops, speeds up a
bit into some nice funky electroesque stuff, eventually gets into the harder
pound pound pound stuff (yawn) and goes back to weirdness at the end. mixing
is nice and unobtrusive. artwork is incredibly garish (flourescent yellow
jewel box).
pick it up if you see it for cheap, it's pretty cool.
