Once upon a time, a girl discovered the feeling of the vibe, the ecstacy
that overtakes ones mind, spirt, body, soul whist dancing...in 1993 Rob & I
were at the Tunnel (it wasn't officially opened yet, still under re-furb)
for a closing party for the NMS (New Music Seminar...a Very cool annual
week long event in NYC, which ended, sadly, in 1994 - (where else could you
experience for the price of your badge,Nirvana, The Ramones, Thrill Kill
Cult, Joey Beltram live, and many many others...in one
night!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Anyways, the warm up Dj for the night, James
Christian..(an Excellent dj!!!!!) dropped a little ditty called 'Circus
Bells' by Robert Armani...now, I was pretty high already 'casue we'd just
had a personal little run-in with Boy George (who was a speaker at this
seminar...we had thought we had spotted him earlier, headed toward the VIP
lounge with entourage in tow, but Robs keen powers of observation noted 3
figures breaking off from the group and headed in another direction...it
was the Real Boy, the other was a decoy!!!! Everyone else followed the
decoy, but Rob and I made a beeline for his direction then danced by him,
then we smiled, spoke a bit :) Yes, his eyes Are really that beautiful.
The next tune after that encounter was Circus Bells...I let my hair hang
around my head and kept my newly purchased led sunglasses on(purchased
earlier that night from a really strange but cool street vendor) I let
this tune do it's magic and let go...and I felt it....omg
About a year later i did a mix, actually 2 for a tape for the '94 NMS, ,
and I HAD to have Circus Bells in it...welll...the Hardcore side worked a
treat, it was great - but, the ravey, trancey side that had that song just
about smack dab in the middle of it, well...it just didn't work...why?
Because I had forced that song in there...and you could tell.
2 weeks ago I spun at an event called Gate to Moonbase Alpha. I played a
tune I have wanted to play for over a year...I have taken it with me to
several events, and planned on playing it...but held back because it just
didn't fit....this time I finally used it, and it worked beautifully!
It's taken a really long time to get to this point... not only to get the
right record to fit into the right spot, but, to also artistically express
what the mood, moment and my inner self is telling me.
Linda
oh, btw, that tune, it was LACKLUSTER/A LACKLUSTER REMIXER - CART ETAK - MERCK
