Namlook's "Season's Greetings"

I told a friend (who is more into classical music than dance music, but seems to like a lot of ambient stuff i *insist* on playing him) that Namlook was doing 4 season's greetings CDs, to which he replied that he thought Namlook was trying to do a modern-day-equivalent of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. While being probably a bit of a pretentious statement, I think this, in a more general way, might be true. I have always thought there have been connections between ambient music (be it ambient techno or more enoesque stuff) and classical music, but have never quite been able to put my finger on what the connection exactly is. I mean, I have always credited Erik Satie with starting ambient music back in about 1905 when he composed his Gymnopedies, and its also recorded that he would shout at audiences for paying too much attention to him(!). Some of the ambient I have heard recently, especially Tetsu Inoue, some parts of FSOL and the ArtI series, while sounding innovative and experimental, has a distinctly classical feel..... What are the opinions of others here about this? darko
