Just picked up my year end copies of Select and NME an thought id post some interesting garble: "I wish I had two minds, then I'd get twice as much done" Richard James, June. "Aliens will be arriving soon, that'll be a laugh. The Germans reckoned they were all over Belgium when techno started off. The Germans were taking far too many drugs at the time" Alex Patterson, October. "I don't see eye to eye with the Germans all the time, I don't think anyone does, because they're so bizarre. They're like little kids really" Richard James, February. Theres also a complete year in review for dance music in NME and Select has a good report on the Orbs recent tour including some nice pictures and also comes with a 3D Orb pic - one of those ones that look like random fuzz but after straring for a while, a picture emerges. Its really weird. _______ (__,-, \ / /\ \ f l u i d /,_) \ \ (/ \\ brit@bach.udel.edu \) flu'id (floo'-) [taken from "Xmas cards of the stars", NME] "Bleep Squark FLANG glip bleep (BURST OF STATIC) Sample burble lipplop flinque blobby blobby blooby - The Aphex Twin"

Is there a picture of Alex sitting on a couch alone, wearing his floppy hat, laughing? Just wondering... If there is, I'll tell you why.

nope. Pic1: Close up of Alex behind the 1200s with the little robot/alien from NYC's Liquid Sky tucked in the front. Insets of the Orb sheep and kids in Glasgow dancing in their Orb hats. Pic2: Another close up of Alex (b+w) Pic3: Nick playing the congas (b+w) Pic4: Close up of keyboard with all the samples written on the keys, (God, 6789, Father, Goodbye, Wave TV) (b+w) Pic5: Stage shot, Alex at 1200s, Bass player, Congas etc. (b+w)

I seem to have terrible trouble seeing these things for some reason. No scanner access for me unfortunately but if you buy the magazine, there are four different images and you only get two so I had to look through them until I found the Orb one. Its about the size of a full magazine page. Text as follows: "EXPAND YOUR MIND - the dot matrix grid you are viewing is a seemingly random dot array. In order to see the hidden image within it try defocussing your eyes and gazing straight through the image to a distant point. Relax and continue focussing at a point beyond the plane of the poster. As you brain tries to create order from chaos you reach an alpha state at which yoour brain is open to learning. It is at this point that your 'third eye' will interpret the patterns and digitised depth cues and suddenly you will see an image projected by your own creative imagination! This all takes place in area 39 - the pool of creativity - a small area of the brain the size of a postage stamp. As you view the print you are literally increasing the strangth and size of the neurons, dendrites and glial bridges at the dream centre of the brain!" :flu'id (floo'-)

This of course explains why everyone sees exactly the same picture.
