Ambient Music info online (massive cross-posted article)
Sorry for shouting into the void like this. If you've already seen this article elsewhere, hit 'd' now ... Mike You thought it was history, but it's back... and online! THE AMBIENT MUSIC SURVEY is now ...available for access by hordes of Internet-connected music heads ...part of a Gopher site ...accessible by anonymous FTP ...ever growing and pulsating ...desperately in need of more contributions The Survey itself is intended to be an anonymous repository of information about AMBIENT music descended from any genre of the musical spectrum. It is a good place to find out about musicians who make music for headphones. The best way to use the Survey to find out more about AMBIENT artists, record labels, and whatnot is to use Gopher. If you've got a Gopher client installed on your end, you should be able to connect to the site directly. If you don't have Gopher, you can use good old FTP but you'll be cheating yourself. Gopher lets you navigate menus of descriptively titled files and directories. The site to connect to is: +-------------------------+ | techno.stanford.edu | +-------------------------+ Read the informational files, and zing a few contributions my way. I'll add your articles or informational bits to the hierarchy, and credit you in a separate file. Questions and comments welcome. Mike Brown ambient@techno.stanford.edu
