've had a chance to hear an advance of Autechre's latest release, and my first impression is that it's damn good, although it's an advance, the final retail won't differ all that much. I haven't had much time to dive into the tracks, but they're already strike me as having that ethereal autechre quality to them. Lots of insane heavily condensed percussive rolls and tumbling explosions of gated slidebombs, chained to haunting warbles and wanderings. It seems a lot more melodic and constructed than Daft 7.3, but not a regression to earlier releases either. I think people who have grown wary of their deepening exploration into whatever it is they're doing will be pleased that this latest work isn't MORE challenging to approach than Daft 7.30. I'm pretty excited and can't wait to buy my retail copy. :) A lot of anticipation, when satisfied by my first listen, makes for a happy camper. Hope you all are enjoying your Valentine's day. - mark --- mark schieldrop, reporter The South County Independent (401)789-6000 x222 (401)608-2037 home (401)374-4121 cell mark@schieldrop.net mark.schieldrop@gmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

As a member of the press I guess one of the few advance copies for reviewers and writers has head in my direction. :) I'm not privy to reveal who gave it to me, but rumor has it was released by an mp3 group into the competitive 'scene' and is making the rounds on some bittorrent sites, so I bet you could find it if you looked hard enough. I feel guiltless since I'm going to buy it as soon as its available. Now all I need is the new Shpongle (release date soon, new tracks listed on www.twisted.co.uk) and I should be musically saturated for many months. :) -- schieldrop --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I got sent both versions without me asking for some reason ... as if I'd know an authentic autechre album from a pickled egg. If anyone who posts here that doesn't have a copy of the first 2 leaked/probably/possibly faked/outtakes/catch the journo versions by now and *really* wants them then just tell me how to work the userlist bit of soulseek ... I can never be bothered to RTFM. but to be honest... the first one is nothing to get worked up about and I haven't got round to listening to the other one yet, too much to do ... got a live set to sort out for tomorrow. do you really give a fuk? honestly? blind tests make arseholes of everyone as far as I remember :) just buy the fuking thing when it comes out. cheers sorry tim & ken ... it seems so amusing when you're a bit drunk. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. i have two versions, the first being warp180 (or the newest one, as i like to call it) and the other being Autechre_2005, which is up on uber-doom.com. They both share the same first track, but the 2005 version definetly diverges after that is is totally fake. The only way it could be AE would be if they threw out all thier synths, got a completely new sample library and...uh...forgot how to write their own music. warp180 *does* sound like them though, so i'm thinking that it is probably real. of course some dude gl0tch was in the IDM channel on soulseek last night going off about how he and some other guy wrote the first one and thanking all of us for the feedback (ha ha). of course he was probably lying, but it had to have been someone.... -- burton samograd kruhft@gmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i picked this up on WATMM " the Autechre - Untilted hoax by Robert Martin of www.recordlabelrecords.org After making the unintentionally sensational hoax video of an American hostage being beheaded in Iraq, and subsenquently having the video getting picked up by mainstream media news as a real "terrorist beheading," I realized the full potential of internet forgeries, especially when utilizing peer-to-peer file sharing networks. Like others, when I first heard the Untilted bfhmp3 version I questioned its authenticity. I used this mass confusion as an opportunity to create even more confusion, hence the "2nd version" of Untilted. This "2nd version" is actually a mishmash of some of my songs, combined with two tracks of the original leakedversion. Most of them are from an album that can be found here - http://www.recordlabelrecords.org/lotf.html. (mp3 clips up on site) My artist name is Fluorescent Grey. I finished the aforementioned album (lying on the floor...) long before Autechre's "Draft 7.30" was released. Many apologies if I offended anyone in the process of conducting this internet experiment. I am not intending to interfere with Autechre's album sales, in fact I am huge fan. I am humbled by so muchoftheir work, and was not attempting to portray my own work as better or equal. If you have a "notable" status like that of Autechre or another famous electronic musician, people tend to be much more open to liking the particular music you release, regardless of its quality. thanks Robbie e-mail me - videohoax@hotmail.com" --- Burton Samograd <kruhft@gmail.com> wrote:

That is funny. But what's more funny, to me, is how initial impressions of Autechre releases often differ wildly from later impressions, once the album has been consumed and absorbed. Having given it an additional few listens, I'm already thinking the release isn't really more 'melodic'. Melodic is not a good word at all. I'll write up a more formal review and analysis later. -- schieldrop --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
