I liked 1-2 tracks on it... I'll jump on the "me too" bandwagon, legitimately because I was just thinking about this a couple days ago after going to Warp's site for the first time in months to see what they were up to. After listening to samples for some of the new stuff I hadn't heard about, I can honestly say I haven't liked anything they've released since about 2001, excepting the more long-standing artists on their roster. I really like all the recent Autechre releases, I loved Plaid's Spokes after a few listens, and I've always liked Broadcast since Warp first got them in '97/98, though they are pretty different and I don't listen to them much. The only exception to this exception rule has been Two Lone Swordsmen - I really dug their previous Warp releases, but the last one was too much of a departure for me. It's too bad they got rid of Jimi Tenor, though good for Jimi - his releases since leaving Warp, esp. the recent "Beyond The Stars", have been excellent! Not IDM (I go to Merck for that now), but good for me. For the people who say IDM is running out of steam, I don't think Warp has really released any IDM in ages. (Well, IDM as I like it/know it - I know the "definition" is pretty broad.) Experimental hip hop and electronic-indy-rock hybrids is what I see coming out of them for the past couple years. They can do what they want but it's just not my thing. I think they want to be Matador. I wish them success, and I'll still get the next BoC release, but I've long since stopped even keeping tabs on everything they release, let alone buying them. Though kudos to Warp for setting up Bleep - nothing I want yet, but it's a promising enterprise... On a related tip, Skam is the same way for me. Haven't liked anything they've put out in the last couple years except the Bola & Freeform albums. And speaking of electronic-indy-rock hybrids, if you *are* into that sort of thing, the new Capitol K album "Happy Happy" does it really well, with a nice kind of brit-pop spin. Too bad for me, though, because I wanted more of what he was doing before, which was more funky, dancy, psychedelic... -adamp damek.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Maybe. I dunno, since I'm not really into the sound I don't listen to morr music much. What I am familiar with, I think of as more subdued, minimalist... and kind of German/Euro electronic/indyrock hybrid. The Capitol K has a more upbeat New York/U.K. feel to it, a bit more poppy, more guitar & "traditional" sounding. More rock, less electronic. In my humble, vague & non-descriptive opinion :/ -adamp damek.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Morr is actually very much on the more subdued indie/electronic hybrid. Lali puna, isan, sytrofoam, etc... If you like that sound i'd very much recommend checking out most of their releases. Capitol K's stuff that I know does have more energy and mass-appeal to it, while still being pretty darn weird. - cutups --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
