I really wanted to address my Phthalo album, it's terribly thematic, it's very raw, and it's supposed to be vital music (in the way that keeping a secret to one-self can drive one batty), I suppose that makes it a bit unlistenable to some, even a bit to much the inside joke, but it was a very real situation, and I hope the person on those phone messages found the help she was looking for... anoughter album like "a mashnote" is on the way, cdr's already availible, as well more vinyl soon, thanks again, Daedelus (email off list if intrested) To: the_lim@hotmail.com, idm@hyperreal.org From: "nat hawks" <natbot@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: [idm] Daedelus Message-ID: <LAW2-F50B9pbKWZfEAk00002c8b@hotmail.com> I don't have it in front of me, but didn't he do the accordian track on Tigerbeat Inc.? I just got in a Forced Exposure package full of Phthalo CDs, including 'Hers Is' by Daedelus. My god what a f**kin weird CD this is... a collage of random sounds, distorted rhythmic noise, telephone recordings, weird samples, frenetic beats. It's very difficult to describe, probably the most inaccessable thing I have heard on Phthalo so far. And that label is not famous for it's pop jingles! Anyway I like it but it's nothing like the Candlelight PA that I witnessed a few months ago... is that what "mashnote" and this new album are more like Alfred? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? does anyone know any background info about daedelus? back when i was tracking there was a guy who used the handle 'daedelus' and he wrote all kinds of crazy remixes of themes like unsolved mysteries and the halloween theme. just curious if they're one in the same. i never talked to the guy so i don't know his real name or where he was from or anything, so i can't give any more help than 'he was a tracker who had a penchant for doing themes', but maybe someone knows. :justin http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I had Daedelus down on my old show Swope Transmissions on KUCI a few years back. That was before Daedelus had any releases out, and right around the time of the Dublab comp Freeways was coming out. To be honest, I wasn't too into the stuff he was playing. He played some really wacky drum n bass...I remember one tune sampled Joe Jackson. The reason I had him down and Dj Nobody down was to help promote an event Dublab was doing. If you contact Dublab, I think they might be able to give you more info. This was a great party with a lot of interesting people. Music was varied in addition to the computers there were involved a stand-up bass, and trumpet...the collaboration was sublime. Some wackiness was evident but also plenty of thoughtfullness and depth. Rgds/Taoconductor --- William Samuels <w_technoir@yahoo.com> wrote:
