The Nobukazu Takemura show here was great, though the opening DJs were pretty hot and bothered and then Takemura and friends mellowed it out with the films/soundscapes. I think a lot of people unfamiliar with the music were turned off by the dramatic mood change. Anyway, there's lots of things coming up.... SONOTHEQUE (Chicago + Noble) Sundays 4.13--Thunderball 4.20--Ursula 1000 4.27--Nicola Conte EMPTY BOTTLE (Western + Cortez) 4.12: International Gigolos Showcase (Traxx, Deecoy, John Simmons) 4.17: Chris Clark, Mira Calix 4.29: Thomas Fehlmann, Jan Jelinek 5.16: Adult, Magas 5.23: Prefuse 73, Four Tet LEADWAY is apparently a good place to be on a Tuesday for IDM...It's somewhere up Damen, at Roscoe maybe?? Anyone been? I know there's some stuff coming up at Heaven/Buddy spaces but I don't remember where I saw the details...I guess I'll figure it out and post it or someone on here will know (Atomly?) Maybe I'll meet some of you guys, though I usually have to work whenever there's someone I want to see. Back to lurking........... l.m. junehavoc@diary-x.com

actually i think this place is much further north, like Damen/Foster or even further up (Andersonville). Rotten Tuesdays are supposed to be pretty good there although I've never been. Free though which is always a plus! Fischerspooner is doing their first live show in Chicago in ages at Metro on Fri 4/18 which ought to be entertaining. m.mercer :: design + sound design :: http://www.matthewmercer.com/ sound :: http://www.mattmercer.com/ _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've been getting mailings from a ton of people playing/ setting up shows there. It's continuing where PLAY at DAnny's left off is what the general word is. It's supposed to be pretty good. Streetside on Armitage/ Kedzie was on that route for awhile.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but, here is another show coming to town soon: SUN. 4/27/03 (9:30pm; $10) Bunker Records' Creme Organization Tour Legowelt Orgue Electronique Bangkok Impact with Kassen DJ TLR Minimal electo Dutch imprints Bunker and Cr?me have organized another tour of the States, on the heels of their successful US run last fall. ?Leading the descent into decadence is LEGOWELT, who fuses sexual obsession with electro-funk, the requisite amount of Kraftwerk and a healthy punk sneer. Meanwhile, his on-again, off-again partner in crime, ORGUE ELECTRONIQUE produces minimalist and raw electro-funk, causing you to flashback to your worst teenage high school parties, eliciting unpleasant memories where everybody but you was enjoying themselves.? Finish composer BANGKOK IMPACT will open things up with a live set of disco-affected dancemusic that will feature labelmate KASSEN, and renowned mixologist TLR (MR. CLAVIO) will deejay throughout the evening. In honor of this performance, TLR has put together an exclusive CD mix Livin? for the Drama featuring Bunker and Cr?me artists, and we?ve made one hundred copies to be given away free at Weekend Records. This is an exclusive, one-time only release and will go quickly, we can assure you. _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Here's another one to add to the list... Should be quite swell as well. :) 4.17.03//Thursday//SmartBar//3730 N Clark Meiotic presents [distort//static]: MATTHEW DEAR-FALSE/JABBERJAW(Ghostly/Perlon/Plus8) POPKAN(LIVE) FLIP ***$5.00 REDUCED ADMISSION LIST ? EMAIL info@meioticpromotions.com ***Arrive early to receive a mixed cd version of the infamous ?Tribute? from minimal miscreants SMITH-N-HACK. CD Packaging also contains discounted ticket for 4.21.03 with SMITH-N-HACK/ERRORSMITH/DABRYE/MARKOKATIC @ Empty Bottle. MATTHEW DEAR aka FALSE/JABBERJAW - DETROIT/ANNARBOR (DJ/LIVE) (GHOSTLY.PLUS8.PERLON.) Techno, Minimal Techno, Glitch, Microhouse, Minimal House, Click House, whatever the classification, the man knows how to bring the funk. Along with Ghostly International cohorts such as Dabrye, DMX Kru, and Todd Osborne, MATTHEW DEAR reinvents genre standards. Inspired by pioneers of the minimal German sound like Mike Ink and Thomas Brinkmann, Matthew's productions are abstract, retaining a dancefloor aesthetic, resulting in a sound new and compelling. His latest releases as JABBERJAW (for the genre-pushing German label PERLON) and as FALSE (for Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva?s Plus8) further proving his overflowing talent, it's obvious why he was handpicked to open for Richie Hawtin at the last CONTROL party, and why he will be featured alongside Richie and Magda at the Plus8 showcase at this year's MUTEK Festival in Montreal (which showcases top cutting edge electronic artists worldwide). We are honored to welcome MATTHEW DEAR to Chicago for this very special engagement. THOMAS ERDMANN aka POPKAN - LIVE Inspired and influenced by luminary artists such as Thomas Brinkmann, Matthew Herbert, Akufen/Marc LeClair, and Pantytec, Chicago bred Thomas Erdmann puts his signature marking on the burgeoning microhouse sound. Incorporating a multitude of bits, bloops, and loops via live sampling and sequencing, his live PA results in a funk induced sound that can range from dark minimal to driving techno. Come check out the Meiotic debut of this promising new artist and see what Chicago has in store for the future. FLIP Xspheremental Concepts.Mindshift.Good for You. Spinning since 1988, this Chicago veteran's versatile sound ranges from underground house to heavy duty techno and everything in between. He's definitely known to bring some tech inflicted drama to keep you _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
