Although the band was originally conceived by Nygaard as an escape from the rigors of producing music, numerous lazy late night jam sessions fueled by beer and Indian take away led to the accidental recording of a handful of timeless tracks that defined the Flunk Sound. Realizing they had a good thing going, the band decided to forge ahead with the recording of an album and the world is truly a better place for it. Flunk's debut long player "For Sleepyheads Only" is a stylish electronic pop love affair where folksy guitar driven down tempo grooves mesh with ethereal new wave synth soundscapes to provide a blissful backdrop for Anja's sun kissed vocal stylings. The end result is a sublimely beautiful album of finely crafted folk electronica served with just the right dose of indie rock attitude. Originally issued on Norwegian imprint Beat Service, "For Sleepyheads Only" has already received rave reviews from the European press. The record was selected as album of the month in DJ Magazine's July 2002 issue and received a glowing review in Muzik Magazine which proclaimed it "Cool Yet Incendiary" and likened the record to the classic works from Bjork and Massive Attack. London's Radio One recently flew the band in to do a Live broadcast on their nationally syndicated chill out show the Blue Room and the group has spent the summer performing at Clubs and Festivals across Europe and the UK. "For Sleepyheads Only" will receive a proper domestic release on Oct 29 and the band will be gracing our shores for the first time this winter when they embark on a live North American tour in support of the album.
