Hello, Sorry for the off-topic post. Please respond off-list. Could someone give me brief descriptions or opinions regarding the post-Napster file sharing programs for PC (i.e. Gnutella, Limewire, AudioGalaxy, Soulseek, etc.) I have little experience with any of these and would like to start using one (or so) while at work. Thank you in advance! i took this under advisement and just downloaded it. have been using morpheus since the napster thing sort of fell to shit. was really happy with it for some time, but it seems like more and more i can't find what i'm looking for. just a couple of questions...get people's opinions on soulseek: Q1:: is the server down a lot? i have yet to be able to connect to it and i know my connectivity is fine because i'm sitting on a T1. i couldn't really find what i wanted all the time on morpheus, but i'd put things together in pieces...shitty, but i could always get connected. Q2:: will i be able to find a lot more rare idm (rare, as in, i live in the US)? i'm a pretty bread-and-butter sort of warp records audiophile, but i'm getting very interested in finding more click tech, glitch and minimalism ala jan jelinek, vladislav delay, pole, etc (see the clicks + cuts compilation and 'the electronic lounge' project). is this gonna expand my horizons like a tenstrip or am i gonna come up short again? :mz // anonbox · http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ 'if there were two of you, which one would win?' --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

A1:: Yes, Soulseek goes down periodically. It is privately, run, financed, and constructed by a one-man show. If it goes down try again later. A2:: Almost all of the Soulseekers out there are IDM heads. 90% of the music you will find on there is electronic. As opposed to the other file-sharing programs which really are any genre. It is also THE place for rare IDM. It is highly recommended. Once you log on and log in you will see what you've been missing all along ! For my needs, soulseek is even better than napster was. The server has been acting up the last couple of days but it is generally just fine. Chris ---Original Message----

server hazz probs theze days, but it should be ok now... on soulseek there's very much :) sometimes you must ask for something, as not everyone shares everything... grtz, M i took this under advisement and just downloaded it. have been using morpheus since the napster thing sort of fell to shit. was really happy with it for some time, but it seems like more and more i can't find what i'm looking for. just a couple of questions...get people's opinions on soulseek: Q1:: is the server down a lot? i have yet to be able to connect to it and i know my connectivity is fine because i'm sitting on a T1. i couldn't really find what i wanted all the time on morpheus, but i'd put things together in pieces...shitty, but i could always get connected. just a little update to the discussion: the RIAA has just sued KaZaA, Morpheus, and Grokster. http://www.dotcomscoop.com/riaa1003.html these proprietary systems will eventually all be taken down. best hop on the fully-distributed gnutella network if you don't want to deal with your favorite file-sharing system being taken down. -j On Wed, 3 Oct 2001, http://www.promoozz.org wrote:
