Duh- because it's different live. Not with all artists, perhaps not even with most artists. But of the one time I've seen Autechre and of the live recordings I have, the songs they play live that I actually recognize from being from one of their albums makes up about 20% of the performance. Same can be said for Funkstorung and Kid 606 and Phthalocyanine and Phoenecia. I suppose that if you're expecting some kind of show or spectacle then watching Alex Graham sit indian style on the floor in front of his laptop for 45 minutes would be boring. I don't mind it because I go primarily for the music. But I think one of the best things to come out of performances like this is the proliferation of video projectionists or the "video dj." Not that video presentations are such a new thing (the whole 60's psychedelia thing?), but I think that's a welcome element to the mix. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
