The new Jan Jelinek album, *Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records* (~scape; www.scape-music.de), is an excellent example of microscopic dub. Very warm, bubbly, clicky and soothing stuff. Call Kevin Martin--we need a follow-up to *Macro Dub Infection 2*: maybe *Microscopic Dub Inspection*. *Loop* comes out early Feb. 2001. Start salivating. yeah i have to say that jan (farben, gramm) is one of the top talents in the "next wave" of psuedointellectual dance music ... i caught him, burnt friedmann and pole here in chicago a while back and it was one of the most stimulating, *danceable* and delightfully non-post-autechre shows i have been to. it seems like most of the best stuff coming out these days is coming out of germany or u.s.a, finally breaking the warp/astralworks stranglehold that was quickly stagnating the genre ... definitely looking forward to more stuff from ~scape and the other deutsche power-hausen (brinkmann, voight, um... oh wait ... they're all brinkmann and voight)... cheers josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Thu, 14 Dec 2000, Dave Segal wrote:

yea I must say all the jelinek projects are outstanding. I have the first 2 farben 12" on klang both are worth the price. the gramm cd on source is so good. have yet to hear his stuff on scape, except for the track on the scape comp. but if you like this kinda thing I really suggest you look into some snd, not as much in the dub as jelinek, but in terms of listenablitiy and breaking free of the warp thing in a microscopic way, their stuff is the tops. lots of small sounds composed in a groovy way, two thumbs up. the snd crew is English. also look into shuttle 358, not dub or groovy, but excellent minimal music that unfolds slowly and holds your attention quite nicely. -scott --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
