i couldn't narrow the full-lengths down to 10 so i went with 20. not much
in the classical sense of idm made my full-length list this year, but great
12-inches continue to appear (and not from the usual sources, either).
indeed, one of the overwhelming impressions i'm left with at the end of
1999 is the creative evaporation of Warp and other paradigmatic Big IDM
labels, which have been replaced by any number of small labels releasing
exciting, innovative music (suction, 12k, sigma, tom, dub, charhizma, rune
grammofon, klang, din, morr, scsi, etc.). i guess the more things change,
the more they stay the same...
