Here's something that I don't think anyone has mentioned here yet (and I'm
sort of surprised about that...):
Ru from Legion Of Green Men gave me a copy of a CD compilation called
"Knots" that they have a track on. It's a strange release, really... it
seems that the guy who runs the Wire reissue label W.M.O. has started up a
new label called Thousand and in addition to digging electronic music,
he's also quite a prog rock fan. So he enlisted a bunch of electronic
artists to produce tracks based on a set of samples that were included on
an anthology release by the band Gentle Giant.
What makes the whole thing very "this-listy", though, are some of the
artists involved. Aside from LOGM, there are tracks here by Lexaunculpt,
Phthalocyanine, Colongib, Dntel, Kid606, Electric Company, Thermal and
more.
I'm just on my first listen right now, so I can't offer a really informed
opinion, but it's sounding pretty good so far. For more info, check out
