In my quest for good IDM pop I have come across several good releases: Donna Regina - Pool (Karaoke Kalk) This is a real gem. The song "Missing Link" is about the best pop song I have heard in years. Nice arrangements and melodies and vox in unison (always gives me a rush). Anybody know if their earlier releases are in this vein? Kandis - Claps (Karaoke Kalk) Very nice stylings. Kind of Senking does pop which is what it is anyway. A good balance of abstraction and melodic sensibility. Lassigue Bendthaus [Atom Heart] - Pop Artificielle (KK) All the tracks on this LP are of the electro-pop styled vocorder enhanced variety. Lots of those laser sounds like on the Hell Interface "Midas Touch" track that send me into hysterics. All sounds kind of the same but that's not bad in my book. The James Brown "Superbad" cover is funky as shit. The only track on this release I didn't like was the "Ashes to Ashes" cover which consists of hyperventilating drill 'n bassy noodling when it could be a more stately production. GD
