hello, can anyone comment on releases by species of fishes? i have the muslimgauze remix cd on staalplaat/tyerritoriya. i was wondering if their other releases sound anything like this one? thanks, bmP

Their first release was the compilation 'Euphoria 10' that consisted mostly of their tracks under various aliases. Their sound varied from orb-like ambient to dark ambient/techno or something like that (realaudio samples of this CD are available at www.44100.com). 'Songs of a Dumb World' on Stalplaat is their debut full length CD. Good ambient album: rich sound textures, some vocal samples and some nice melodical pieces(some Orb influence still feels here). The second, "Trip Trap" (on Russian 'Exotica' label) is very rhythmical and can be compared to Autechre and Pan Sonic. Muslimgause remixed tracks from this album, but I think the original versions are a little better and the tracks that Muslimgause have chosen for remixing are not the best ones IMO. If you like the remix album you should check out Trip Trap. The third is Muslimgause remixes and the latest, 'Time End Place' (also on Exotica) is very noisy and experimental, the guys got rid of all the rhythmical and structural elements in there music. I don't like such king of sound so I managed to listen to this CD only once :) Nick.

Hi everyone! I'm back from holiday vacation in High Tatras - Slovakia where I had much fun skiing from above clouds to under clouds. My first 2000 question is does anyone like Species of Fishes from Russia? I find them very different from other idm related artists. Very unique approach and result is great. Any detailed info on them? Alien working at last.... np.
