I was pleased to have heard most of the top items by the end of the year but haven't heard the Two Lone Swordsmen "Stay Down" - I have "Stockwell Steppas" which I'd say I like but wouldn't have been my LP of whatever year that was - is "Stay Down" a little or a lot better or about the same? Also, just checking - Gescom: This (Skam) means skam 010this? Am I correct that This came out in February or so and That near the end of the year, like November or December? Is it (hence) still at all available? When is ska010hence coming out? Thanks, Bob

Stockwell steppas was not a proper album. It is listed as a single and I think most of the tracks were from a radio show. However, every swordsman release is different. Weatherall doesn't like to stick to one style. I find their music to be challenging and highly engaging. The new release is very good. I am not sure if I would classify it has house or techno. Parts of it are, but other parts of it aren't. Plus the artwork is brilliant. I think there is a good review of it at www.urbansounds.com (complete with sound samples I think) anyone else heard the tls remix on the transient waves ep (released on fat cat, who incidently should have gotten label of the year)? in a word, nice. -daniel

a LOT better. I feel exactly the same way about Stockwell Steppas and approached the arrival of Stay Down gingerly : it has rapidly become an overplayed regular here, to the detriment of some other new music which I haven't even given myself time to listen to. Viva Warp. They've certainly brought out some strong stuff of late. I *
