A $12 6 issue subscription to XLR8R garners a free copy of either 4Hero's "Two Pages" or DJ Dara's "Full Circle" - any strong recommendations one way or another. The State of the Nu Art comp. on Shadow is figuring heavily in my local "pre-listened" bin (I guess they over-promo-ed it) - is it a good buy for $8 or so? How about Cujo's "Adventures in Foam" - much like the Tobin releases? Thanks, Bob

not quibbling, just adding ...(a bit)... ;) kinda, theres a definate progression towards his tobin stuff. it had more of a trip hop feel, in a similar way that funki porcini went from jazzy trip-hop to jazzy drum'n'bass, i think cujo was moving in the same direction. more voice sample type stuff also w/ the guy going on about space ships an' all. the "nu-art" comp was ok, probably better if you don't have much by the artists involved, and then y'can treat it a bit like a sampler rather than a listening experience in its own right. otherwise it seemed to be a classic 'offcuts' comp. -martin

IMHO a no brainer. Go for the 4-Hero. I don't have the Full Circle but if it's anything like other Dara material (we're talking about NYC jungle producer DJ Dara right?), I wouldn't bother...Two pages on the other hand is one of the best records of 98, despite the hype...

This is the same as the import State of the Nu Art II comp? I'd pay $8 for that, but not full (import) price.

Very similar. If you like other Tobin material I'm sure you'll dig Cujo... peace Nate

I'm not going to vote against 4 Hero, but Full Circle isn't that bad, mostly because it's a mix (Decoder, Tech Itch, Trace, Optical, Ed Rush) and not Dara himself... .John.
