i dont know if mentioning him here is inappropriate. if so, i apologize(i think spicelab stuff has been mentioned before/might have qualified as idm a few years ago). listening to my Richie Hawtin X-Mix cd this weekend, i started to really like the LSG track that preceeds the "hot mix" of Pepper(classic J.Paap). LSG seems quite different than Spicelab stuff, would it, uh, be categorized as trance maybe? In the past, when ive heard what people called trance, i didnt like it much, but this track was kinda nice, simple, melodic etc. Anyone on here like LSG/heard that track etc and have any stuff the could recommend thats similar, LSG or otherwise? thanks andy _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Try one of these two compilation albums for the sound similar to that track on the x-mix cd: . LSG: Volume 2 2x12" (Superstition/Super2069) . LSG: Collected Works 3x12" (Hooj Choons/HOOJLP 5) But the more recent LSG stuff has more of a hard dark techno sound similar to the more recent Tresor label stuff. For this sound try: . LSG: The Black Series 1.1 12" (Superstition) . LSG: The Black Series 2.1 12" (Superstition) . LSG: The Black Series 3.1 12" (Superstition) -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Oliver lieb and his various projects are my definition of IDM... I had the pleasure of seeing him live and his latest LSG album, 'the black series' is awesome. a must. ciao Andre... Webdesigner & Faxlabel Advocate http://www.faxlabel.com

I don't own any LSG, but I remember a track that John Peel played a couple of years back repeatedly (he usually never plays anything more than once...) called 'Hearts'. It was very melodic - symphonic almost, the melody was played on a gated distorted string sound - fantastic record. Is the rest of LSG this good or was this an anomaly? ;-)
