sorry-anyone have the url for ear-rational? i can't find it w/ a web search, or on hyperreal anywhere. thanks i just got Panacea-Low Profile Darkness its great, especially track 3. nice and crunchy like AE. although the beats on a lot of the tracks are kinda similar. can anyone point to some similar stuff? i want more :) I vote for this album in the "most ass inlay and inside pictures" category. I've never seen something so awful and obviously intentional(though not intentionally awful). How about that nice pic of him on the couch w/the x-force blanket, wonder who came up w/that idea? or that nice pic of him leaning against the wall by that industrial area. pretty cool eh? everytime i see it it makes me cringe with embarassment. the whole booklet is so lame-o. the pics are serious-I don't think he's trying to be clever and self-mocking. andy

If you're a CD only kinda guy, pick up the recent compilation "Position Chrome" which includes the Chrome posse (Panacea, Problem Child, Disorder [which is actually Panacea and P.C. together], Heinrich at Hart) remixing each other's stuff. All in that ass-kickin', big'n'loud, techstep style. If you also do vinyl, pretty much anything on Chrome (or as it's now known, Position Chrome - anyone know what's up with the name change?) should do ya right. Except for maybe Techno Animal - I like'em, but they're more on the dark dub tip. And you could do worse than to check out some stuff on No U-Turn. The Torque comp CD is a good enough place to strt.

Gotta agree with you there. The P.C. comp has more of the same, although it also has photos of Problem Child & Heinrich. Even the recent Chrome/Don-Q split picture disc 12" has got a photo of Panacea and P.C. on the Chrome side! Certainly not the faceless types, these Germans. Greg

That sentence prompts me to throw in this (sorry about the cross- posting those who've already seen it) : I've got a 15-track promo CD out on too Too Pure / City Slang titled "Wow & Flutter / Black holes and time warps (Cat No. WOW!15) featuring some material that is out already and others that are due for release in the first quarter of this year. The lineup : Salaryman / Scala / Trans Am / Long Fin Killie / Frozen Modules / To Rococo Rot / Laika / Schneider / Mouse on Mars / Tortoise / Seely / Techno Animal / Jack / Hefner / Calexico All in all diverse and interesting material from all involved. (PS : Who the hell are Frozen Modules ??? It says : Taken from the City Slang album "The Confused Electrician" out mid January 98). The final track (Calexico's "Cobre") is a wonderfully mad Mexican sounding spaghetti western soundtrack number, which I am forced to put on 'repeat' a few times over, just because it puts a smile on my face. As a sampler, this one's worth picking up. I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre
