Sould Oddity are a duo who've put out an album on Astralwerks (CD or 3 seperate 12"s) about year and half to two years ago. Their style is pretty much analogue-ish electro. One part Miami and One part well...reminds me of Khan & Walker's funky acid stuff. Very schelchy, bleepy...you get the idea. Jeswa sounds quite differnt than Soul Oddity. Anyway, back to Schematic. Push Button Objects is Edgar Farinas who is/was going to put out material on Skam as well. Takeshi and Metic are not quite clear. Romolo is one of them. Don't remember which one. Takeshi (the last I heard) was supposed to be working on material for a future warp release, but don't know if that's still a go or not. As far as what's planned for future releases and when they're coming out...Your guess is as good as mine. I suppose when they have the money to do so. Hello Seven. Are you still out there somewhere? Whazup wit dat? b.e.n Synaptic Records (Ben & Rick) 608 S. Broadway Denver, CO 80209 (303) 722-9428 (vox) (303) 722-9540 (fax) synaptic@eazy.net http://www.eazy.net/synaptic-records/

Soul Oddity are Romulo Del Castillo and Joshua Kay and they do experimental electro. I have the cd, which contains many of the tracks from the three 12"s, but i haven't listened to it since early 1996. But from what i remember it was rather uninteresting. I'll pull my Soul Oddity cd out in the next few days and give it another listen. I do remember that it is in no way as good as the Jeswa 12" though. Soul Oddity stuff... . Soul Oddity is a bit more light spirited than the Schematic stuff. I like to think of the Schematic releases as a fusion of Soul Oddity's _Tone Capsule_ sound with Autechre's darker/experimental output. I definitely wouldn't dismiss _Tone Capsule_... give it another listen (I personally like it better than Jeswa) -- I think it's a classic and definitely one of Astralwerks best releases. <spot on> By the way, the CD has a track not available on any of the 12"s and one of the 12"s (#3 I think) has a track not on the CD. </spot off> Also if you get a chance to see Soul Oddity live, run don't walk! They played in Arizona a year ago with Aux 88 and Uberzone and blew my mind! They completely remixed/tweaked out their tracks into more complex works. People were dancing and nodding and then they would take 90 degree turns that would leave people with heads tilted like dogs trying to figure out what the hell they just did -- then it would flow again... it was a perfect blend with both the I and D in IDM. Speaking of Phoenecia, word has it there is a Gucci Crew sample tucked away in one of the tracks somewhere... ah yeah. :) E r i c F r a n s ----------------------
