From the snowbound home office on the north coast comes the top ten reasons why Joe Rice is so dope... 10. Crispy breakfasty last name. (say that 10 x fast!) 9. Gentlemanly internet manner. 8. Street knowledge. 7. Asks informational questions you don't have the answer to. 6. Answers your questions. 5. Obvious love for the music. 4. Deejays 3. Mails me well packed packages. (another one...10 x fast) 2. insight - his new mixed tape (100% mile wide idm TECHNO) 1. uses more then 1 email address (both of which I forget) Thanks for the tape Joe, it's fucking *excellent*! Mmm, 'sticky' I like that! The tape is called 'showtime v1.3' FYI(dm) Speaking of hazy radio waves...this weekend on the show we'll again feature the vocal dynamics of MC RAW (he's a *real* MC if you know what I mean). It will be one of his last appearances before he heads back to the UK (his final 'gig' is @ the Sunday night Jungle Jungle thing @ quest). Check it. (Bella...you bring Stupot up ok!) Teep wzbc * 90.3FM Boston * beyond the qe2 * 2am->6am sundaze * (tune in saturday from 11pm->2am for sasha's 'acidburn') 552-4686

If anyone on IDM wants a copy of this, drop me a line and we'll work something out. (I'm thinking a 100min blank and a SASE) I'll send a track list to interested parties. Off the top of my head, some of the artists and labels on there are The Advent, Dave Angel, Sound Enforcement, MLO, Pluto, Underground Resistance, Clark, Cabaret Voltaire, Ken Ishii, Red Planet, etc. And, in an amazing and heretofore unsolicited display of mutual admiration I heartily recommend Teep's latest excursion on cassette from his radio show. Sticky electric electro burning through the haze of an FM transmission... I used to subscribe to IDM ages ago, and I seem to remember that once a month everyone would send in their top 10 favourite albums/cds of all time. Does this not happen anymore? Also, does anyone know a way of saving Real Audio (.ra) files from sites on the internet to your local disk. Austin.

Oh gosh no, for the love of cspot ;) not once a month please!! I prefer that ppl not post simple top tens, rather post top tens with nice descriptive text, so that you bump up the nutrient density of the post. There was a great example of this recently by lwtcdi@lwtcdi.prestel.co.uk

Nope, but I can tell you how to record them to cassette. Speaking of which, this was my latest victim... http://www.vpro.nl/data/koudzweet/stortvloed/sessie.shtml?35857 DJ I-F on vpro...running time 1 hour, dope factor 5,000. Teep

I know people did this around the new year, and it was a nightmare, far more garbage posts than you can imagine, and most of them in consensus. It'd be kind of cool if one person compiled it all, but the amount of list traffic it generates while having little content is remarkable... - -- greyrose@nervosa.sf.ca.us http://www.extortion.com - -- "Scribble thoughts flowing freely from the mind, sing in good voice, keep the beat and, above all, accept a glass of wine when it is pressed upon you." - Yoshida Kenko, Essay in Idleness, 1340

if you can find the .ra file, you can just save it by shift-clicking the link or using fetch or lynx -download or whatever you like. usually they aren't accessible via ftp/http tho.
