Yeah, a friend of mine slipped me a copy about a month ago and, besides the first track which is more or less a chem bros copy, the comp is pretty nice. of course, the copy I had was on cassette and had yet to be mastered, so I imagine it's even better now.... --brian rachielles brachielles@juno.com www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/club/4980 idm review archive: www.geocities.com/paris/metro/9160/idm.htm

The shit's hit the fan. Nico just handed me a advanced promo of a new Geffen Records comp titled 'Infinite beat Vol. I'. Here's the liner notes: ----------- Infinite Beat Vol. I DGCD-A-25144 Infinite Beat Vol. I inaugurates a series of DGC compilations featuring uptempo breakbeat and drum+bass from London and beyond. Most of the tracks originated in the U.K. on 12-inch singles issued by premier U.K. dance labels like No U-turn, Skint and Warp. Snuggles + Slak's 'the Reckoning,' however, was born in the U.S.A. Cuts range from the Hardknox's big beat 'Fire Like This': Squarepushers's jazztinged 'Problem Child'; Shizuo's hardcore 'Sweat'; Nico/Fierce's apocalyptic 'Input'; Skycutter & Kiki Mojo's soulful, alluring 'Crystal Blue'; and Aphrodite and Mickey Finn's jump-up drum+bass mix of Alabama 3's 'Woke Up This Morning.' What these diverse songs share is an aggressive edge and the drive to expand the boundaries of electronic beat culture. Serving as executive producers of infinite beat Vol. I were DGC A&R men Ray Farrell, Mark Kates, Brian Long and Linc Wheeler. Said Farrell of Infinite Beat Vol. I: 'This is killer stuff. Infinite Beat covers the most exciting new music out there. These are definitely some of the most wicked beats you'll hear anywhere.' 1. The Hardknox / Fire Like This 5:40 2. Skycutter & Kiki Mojo / Crystal Blue 6:43 3. Naked Funk / Pleasing the Korean 5:20 4. Alabama 3 / Woke Up This Morning (Urban Takeover Mix) 6:19 5. Squarepusher / Problem Child 5:41 6. Shizuo / Sweat 4:27 7. The Advocate / You Talkin' to Me 7:32 8. Decoder / Circuit Breaker 7:41 9. Snuggles + Slak / The Reckoning 5:47 10. Nico/Fierce / Input 8:05 11. Friends, Lovers & Family / Dark Fader 8:55 ----------- Gonzi...don't forget to update your disco! peace out, brock. np: Amon Tobin
