There's a Japanese version with the Maiden Voyage EPs on a bonus disc - perhaps this is what was being thought of? Joe

Dedicated's website (http://www.dedicated.co.uk/) mentions a "reissue, us" of '76 14,' but doesn't mention anything about PM being included. It'd definitely be odd to include PM, since 'Blood Music' itself is out of print, but I'd probably buy ten or fifteen copies to distribute to friends, loved ones, and perfect strangers if such a reissue did come about. Speaking of GC, the Dedicated site also mentions something about a forthcoming GC single, titled "The Groove," "featuring mixes by palmskin and degos 2000." I assume that Palmskin is Palmskin Productions, late of Mo'Wax and Virgin, but what's "degos 2000"? Dare I dream it's something to do with Dego from 4 Hero? Why do I get the sinking feeling that GC is moving more from ambient to house? When is Mark going to do another Reload album? Maybe I dare not ask, because it may turn out to be jungle in the end.

Where you been Pete, it already is! Link records aside, they (Jedi et al) recently remixed Depeche Mode, complete w/a terror bass rip off sound! The only Reload we can look forward to is a Collection of Short Stories repress, no? Teep np: trio da paz - black orpheus

Reload keeps showing up on remixes, for instance, on Nav Katze's "Never Mind The Distortion" and a coupla others that I can't definitely name w/o looking at the CD case. However, I haven't enjoyed any of these remixes nearly as much as ACOSS - they sound much more like the early Reload singles - minimalist crunchy beats, rather than soundtrack w/ occasional crunchy beats on ACOSS. Their releases as Link sound more like Reload on ACOSS. I for one am baffled by Mark & Tom's release strategy - I thought GlobComm had massive potential as an ambient band and limited potential as a cliched house band. Now it seems that Pelusha is their ambient imprint. Why they need 2 drum&bass monikers i.e. Chameleon / Chaos & Julia Set, I'don't know. Then there's Jedi Knights, Warp69, and E621, and others that I don't know about, I'm sure. I can understand having more than one musical personality, but this is ridulous. FSOL used to do this too, but I think it finally sank in that they were only diluting their brand name. I wish MP & TM would quit "goofing off" so much and focus on GlobComm & C&JS, though I'm sure I'll hear howls of protest at the suggestion that Jedi Knights be canned. I can't confirm where I read the 2xCD rerelease announcement, but I know it was within the past week, probably on a Future Releases list. Che

Whoah - Warp 69 as an alias of theirs? I thought they just did a mix for them. I don't remember the other tracks on the Flagbearer release being anything too special. Joe

They stated in a fairly recent interview that I read on the web (can't remember the address for the life of me, it was at a site hosted somewhere in continental Europe with really goofy graphic design, lots of scribbled icons etc) that they never actually intended to have so many pseudonyms, and that they were going to retire quite a few of them, with the result that the next Global Communication album would be in a variety of styles. (They also said that Jedi Knights 12" on Clear was intended to be a one-off project, but they had so much fun doing it, and it sold so well, that they decided to keep it going.) Show of hands, how many people think "The Way The Deep" is vastly inferior HOUSE music in comparison to 76:14 and Petamerous Metamorphosis? I thought so.

Damn, when did you hear me dis Cajmere or Motorbass? =) Ok, not as jackin' as the GV stuff, or as quirky/funky/original as Motorbass, but I daresay it's deeper - on a late morning vibe. All my opinion, of course. From what I've heard, Tom & Mark ape styles very well - they tend to understand the essence of a genre pretty easily. What they do doesn't tend to push that genre forward, at least in the non ambient/IDM stuff they've done, but what they do is usually an excellent example of that genre - look at the NY NY Secret Ingredients record - straight up wild pitch style. No better than Pierre, but not bad. So in that sense, maybe it is a bit formulaic, but I don't think it's crap. And it's generally better than most who try and genre-hop - maybe I'm giving them a little extra credit for breadth. Why not talk about house music, at least we're discussing music, which hasn't seemed to be the focus of the list lately...I think everyone on the list could use to at least listen to the I:Cube album. Why, that would be a wonderful thing, IMO the reload tracks are the best things that the GC crew has done. "A Collection of Short Stories" is still amongst my favorite records in the IDM genre. And MR.Artist, why do you always have to respond like a contrary bastard ? I've noticed that you're posts have been of a "holier than though" attitude for the last couple of weeks. You won't find many Americans who won't disagree with you. I've got a friend vacationing in London right now. His sentiment was that the beer was great, but the food sucked. That and he couldn't find a decent autoshop with tires in stock. :-) I also have reason to belive that the chauffeurs are apt to drive drunk.

I don't think this is what you meant to say. "You won't find many American's who WILL disagree" is what you meant isn't it? =)

I'd agree if it's cold beer. Warm beer sucks IMO. US beer does suck compared to alot of other countries and England has to have the worst food on the planet. The alcoholic cider in England rules however. For the record, I'd take English cider over beer any day. =) T.

no wonder deaf people are buying it in droves. if they don't have to 'listen' to it, like. must be the first record you don't have to 'listen' to for it to be effective.. the name of this list NEEDS to be changed (sorry to bring up an old subject). it is attracting the wrong kind of 'intelligent' people. cheerio! np - urban tropics - juan atkins \/\/\/\/\/+++++''''|||| REST YOUR EARS, HAVE NO FEARS, DRINK SOME BEERS, SHED SOME TEARS salford sounds, the phriendly fonographic phun-loving label for the noughties.. Heh. That was a reference to it as a dance record - ever heard it in a club? Even in the underground people don't generally dance their ass off to Autechre in the main room. I've tried getting them to. Although, ironically, Reload can work. =) Take an Umek record. Take a Mills record. Not the kind of thing I generally listen to on a Sunday evening at home. Throw them behind 60k of sound - there's your effectiveness.

Oh, dear. I'll have to go fetch that qualifying exam again. Joe
