Well there's even some problems I had with Netscape Communicator 4.1, so umm.. Anyway, it seems that (it happened to my friend too, and he's got 4.1 as well) when you click the 'place order' and 'add to order' buttons it times out, and also when submitting your info. It worked for me after a few mins of trying, but my friend wasn't as lucky. Has this happened to anyone else? my opinion about the java thing is this: overuse of java sucks.. and warp-net may be brilliant but they definitely over-use java. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ www.freq-div.home.ml.org

Since you've misused the word Java in three messages in a row, I must interject :-). Warp-net uses very little Java. The only applet is the "bleeper", which is called to produce a beep on the navbar and to say "warp-net" when you move the mouse over the logo. Warp-net does, however, use a lot of JavaScript everywhere. JavaScript is _not_ Java! It used to be called LiveScript, but when Java appeared Netscape changed the name to JavaScript to cash in on the Java craze, which has lead to plenty of confusion. Actually, I think Warp-net has one of the most effective uses of JavaScript out there. It makes their site more like an application rather than a collection of static pages. When I'm using Netscape, that is. But that's always the tradeoff: make use of the technology and leave a lot of people behind vs. being compatible but not on the forefront. You can make a case for either approach. It would be nice if Warp-net was either programmed to scale down gracefully, or if they had a "raw" version as well as a "cooked" version for people not running Netscape. onNow: Black Dog live in Canada (thanks Chris!) -- Emanuel Borsboom -- Victoria B.C. Sounds backwards to me. If THEY want ME (and my wallet) to visit their site, they can damn well make it work on at least all the relatively common browsers. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ::: Internet Music Wantlists: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Wantlists

the way i see it is that if you use the internet lots (or only a bit) you should have the best browser you can get anyway! Java makes pages twice as good, and is worth the netscape download! You cant stand still in this game! Steve /k/./F/

I try and avoid the game by using the best (read useful) browser for information retreival -- that's the point isn't it? not to get off the subject or anything.. obIDM: who wants to talk about "advanced alchemy of music" which was released in 1992 in germany which sounds ahead of its time -- I'll have more info when I get home & listen to it again. and what about "new order" from 1987 which was released in manchester -- haven't listened to the whole of it yet but sounds somewhat IDM.. **don't play the game, it'll just encourage them** --brett On Mon, 11 August 1997, at 22:56:24, .... wrote:
