here in Sweden the CD was a gift to all readers of a paper called "pop"...! it´s pretty cool, interesting beats - some original stuff... some of the tracks are kind of similar to many others... it´s also rap in some of the tracks... but, go ahead, buy it, you will not be disappointed... /Stefan

Dark haired guy, Max Loderbauer. Blond guy, Tom Thiel.

I was at the Chicago show on Saturday. I was going to write something up but forgot to. Their setup was right in front of the crowd barricade. Tom was just tweaking a soundboard the whole time. Other equipment: Apple Mac (Remind you of RDJ?), Korg Prophecy (I think, it was silver), Nord Rack, some other rack item, sampler below. I was like five feet from them. People were standing ten inches from Tom's face. One tall guy was yelling shit at him about 7 minutes into their set. He looked up at him but otherwise they were very concentrated on their set. I thought most of the equipment they had would have broke down because it was so humid. Tom was sweating very hard, he had on some plaid pants. I couldn't recognize anything they did (I don't have any albums), but was very pleased. The crowd only got into it when Max touched his Prophecy to make a drum and bass, bassline.

I was standing in the balcony and could see that all LX was doing, Was spinning records! I went back down to the floor and watched Andy do everything. He has some help though, some guy with blond dreadlocks was helping him trigger samples and the like.
quoted 2 lines I vaguely remember Blue Room, Fluffy Clouds, Blue Room, S.A.L.T.>I vaguely remember Blue Room, Fluffy Clouds, Blue Room, S.A.L.T. >(least fav orb track),
S.A.L.T. was terrible. I have no idea why it's in their set. The other stuff was nice. The great songs were the ones which lasted like 45 seconds. I think they were samples of people singing really absurd some. Another one was true drum and bass, without a hint of dub, very different track for the orb. I'd like to hear somemore tracks like this. I don't think the last album was a radical change for them, as the press had said. If they did this weird drum and bass shit, I'd be happier with their future rather than this bullshit.
quoted 2 lines maybe Bedouin, & of course Toxygene. anyone else go to this?>maybe Bedouin, & of course Toxygene. anyone else go to this? >
I really like Toxygene but both times I saw the orb it sounded like the "can" sound or whatever that is that keeps the melody is drowned in the bassline, that really pissed me off. I think the encore song was some unreleased song. Rusty

the way i thought they were doing it was as such: alex does *live* sampling and he triggers and speeds and twiddles with them, and aas far as i thought, it was him only doing this. correct me if i'm wrong :) apor

When I saw them, Alex was spinning only, and screwed up on beat but like 1 full beat late. No sampling, and no tweaking. I was watching from above for most of the show, and he rarely even changed records. _ / \ /\ /__/ \ / \ \ / \AVIS \\\\ emailing from work. <underline><color><param>0000,0000,ffff</param>ravis1@mindspring.com </color></underline> <underline><color><param>0000,0000,fefe</param>http://www.mindspring.com/~ravis1/</color></underline>

Even since the Thrash days, this is all LX does live. He usually has two turntables and a dual-CD player in front of him.

When I saw them touring for Orbus Terrarum it was Andy who was spinning and Alex was behind a huge bank of kit looking for all the world like he was triggering samples. I'm sure it was Alex as I did an interview with him beforethe show. We're not confusing the two are we? Tim Those who set out to serve both God and Mammon soon find there is no God.

Alex is very bald. Andy has lots of hair.

I guess that is a question for you. Every time I've seen the Orb play (thrice), the configuration has been Alex on turntables.

I guess that's what he was doing. He was twiddling some knobs too, so that could mean he's almost doing anything. I lost interest with him and started watching Andy instead. Rusty

As the bloke said before, Alex is bald very bald, he may have worn a stocking cap. Andy has really long hair. Alex is also kind of pudgy. I am for fucking sure that Alex is on the turntables and Andy's on the sample/bassline side. I've seen pictures and TV shows of the Orb and I know what Alex looks like! Don't confuse yer self! Rusty
