Just got the Lee Perry box last weekend... Nothing that really blew my mind
(probably a good thing), in fact it hardly seems up to the other dub
reissues I have: Augustus Pablo, Scientist, King Tubby, Keith Hudson, etc.
Maybe I need to put in some more time on the thing (three discs is a lot to
digest). Anyway, one of the best tracks is Perry's production of Max Romeo
on "Me & the Devil" (title?). It's the track good 'ol Liam sampled for "Out
of Space" ('I'm going to send him to outer space, to find another race...")
In other news: Does anyone know if the new MC Solaar is going to get an
American release? Is it worth getting, even at import prices?
Also: I have to weigh in with what looks like the only positive Portishead
review of the new single. It's no great leap forward, but the vibes are
definitely there.
