Somebody out there once mentioned in passing that Autechre had laid down some tracks featuring the didgeridoo (Australian bushmen's wind/string instrument). Could someone please ID these specific tracks for me? Any other good didgeridoo in an ambient/jungle/techno/trance/IDM style? I've got some "Outback"- pretty good, but kind of "traditional"..... Thanks a big ol' bunch. Chaco Snart kommer varen !

Beside the few already mentionned, you can find some on the ethno-techno compilation, on the Orbital 2 album (i know a few others but i cant put a name on them...) Ciao, -- Francois Dion (IdMEDIA) [> Email: francois@hyperreal.com <] ' [> C.P. 278, St-Lambert, QC, Canada, J4P 2N8 <]

the autechre track is 'rsdio' from "Trip repetea". Another is "Digerido" by aphex twin (you can find it on "Classics"), Coil's "Further back & faster" from "Love's Secret domain" and numerous goa trance tracks like those of Astral Prjection which I've seen twice performing live with a digeridoo player. Um, is this by observation? I sure as hell can't hear anything remotely like a didgeridoo (sp?) on that track, nor anything I've heard by them. If you're referring to the really rolling resonant rattly thing (dig that alliteration :-) then I'd say it's a drum machine through numerous filters. Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if they sampled a didge and then rogered it around until it didn't sound anything like one! ;-)

While I'd agree with the Coil ones, I was told once by a friend (ie. I have no idea how true this is) that Aphex's track is actually all done with filters on synths rather than a didgeridoo. Wouldn't suprise me one bit. Most of the sounds in the track are generated by the TB 303, which James does make sound an awful lot like the digeridoo that drones along in the background (which may be another analog instrument rather than an actual digeridoo- the timbre is right but most digeridoos don't just drone on for several minutes... never seen someone with that much lung capacity).

Well, the point is that it sounds like a dij. same goes for the aphex twin. regs, snowjob@actcom.co.il The Morpheus Equation: Start + Middle + End = Sand

I agree with you on the fact that it might be a 303 but nevertheless digeridoo are breathing through their nose and a friend of mine once played for a very long time without stopping so... it can be done. snowjob@actcom.co.il The Morpheus Equation: Start + Middle + End = Sand
