When I bought my copy the other day, the guy behind the counter said Spatula Freak was going to be difficult to get hold of because it had been "banned by Virgin". Anyone know anything about this? I don't know whether he meant Virgin are trying to put a stop to it completely, or prevent its being imported to this country (UK), or what. (I'm guessing Reflective are a US company?) I find it difficult to believe Mike P. would have signed an _exclusive_ deal with Virgin, given all the names and labels he's released stuff under in the past, so I wonder what if any is Virgin's claim. It'll be a shame if Spatula Freak is prevented from reaching the audience it deserves. Paddy ;;, | Paddy Grove, \\ .;(((((c. This shouldn't be import type prices. It's released on Reflective which is an American label.

Well, OK beats, v. nice tunes, very like most of MPs material. it's not mindblowing, but I find myself listening to it pretty regularly, and it rarely disappoints. As a previous poster noted, one or two of the tracks are among MPs best- it is easy to be excited by nonstop releases from certain artists, but you cant help feeling that if MP was, say, working on his 4th album now, his reputation would be considerably greater, mike >

If you've already got Tango N' Vectif, Bluff Limbo, and In Pine-Effect (and maybe Lunatic Harness) and you still want more, go for it. It's one of his least consistent records but I'd put a few of the tracks in my MP top ten. -- Miles www.sirius.com/~cullen

Is it just me, or should Hard Love be played at 33 rather than the 45 that it says on the label? I might be way off here, but it sounds a lot more natural like that. (But who said it was supposed to sound natural) Oh, and could anyone recommend (off list if it's OT) records by Loop and Spaceman 3.
