If that bothers you, I'd recommend staying as far away from Chicago's south side djs, because much of their existance is based on eqing the hell out of everything and using crossovers to work disco and house together in some sort of coherent fashion.. (ex. Ron Hardy (deceased))... Jamie

Ditto with most of the Detroit and area DJ's. (I'm guilty) Peace, Ollie

Doesn't bother me well it's done well. I've seen Hawtin blow everyone away with his sets (and EQing effects). I've also seen two poor sets by Hawtin where he made bad sets worse by cutting and dropping everything so much it was impossible to dance (or even listen) ie his set at Tribal Gathering and the WARP night. This is a problem I usually attribute to inexperienced DJs (scratch or spin back maniacs). Hawtin is not an inexperienced DJ. Dave Clarke Radio 1 session made good EQ use IMO. Raw, ruff and ready. greg g The WARP Web Site 3 0 3 http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~n264671/wap-indx.html

Yeah, I agree that if it's done sensibly, without going over the top, EQing effects can really enhance a set. It's more annoying when listening at home than when you're dancing, too. Laurent Garnier works the EQ like a genius, IMO, not too much, but excellent timing when he does use it... See ya Tom Churchill E-mail: tom@chrchfam.demon.co.uk Electronic DJ and musician
