If you check out the BBS at Black Dog Towers some more things become clear.. But I'll try to explain and hope I can help some people... _TRAINSPOTTER MODE ON_ Black Dog were three guys called Ken, Ed and Andy.. Ken will continue to make music as Black Dog (coming up with an EP and an album on Warp).. Ed and Andy are making now (again) music under pseudo Plaid (ep on Clear), in the near future there will be an ep on Warp.. But they also use the pseudo Tura (two tracks on A13's Experimenta and one on Pure Plastic Vol.3). Balil (=Ed) made the track 'Nort Route' available on the (superb) compilation 'Intergalactic Beats' on Planet E (on vinyl and CD), also on 12" ART1 (on ART) and 12" PEART1 (on Planet E) and 12" R&s 92010 and on ART4 CD, which includes tracks of the 12"'es ART 2.1 & ART 2.2 which were not on the CD ART 2 (Philo..) and some other remixes.. As far as I know three mixes of Nort Route were published.. _ Trainspotter Mode Off _ Ooff..

Are you saying that every track credited to Balil is *entirely* Ed's work? Merck, 3/4 Heart, the entire Parasight ep, those tracks on the Rephlex comp with Blue Calx on it? Not to dis him at all, but what exactly does Andy do?? Moreover, what does "written by Black Dog Productions" mean, exactly?

I understand that Plaid has always been Plaid. Are all the pseudonyms consistent names for certain personnel configurations or are some of them arbitrary and/or random? And while I'm at it: the high pitched noise that sometimes makes it impossible for me to listen to my second favorite track on Bytes. I forget which track it is but if you have detected it you *know* what I'm talking about...track 6 on the CD. Ouch. Ventolin can go to hell. Who or what is Echo Mike? Who contributed to the new Bjork album and in what capacity and under what name? All I see is someone called Tricky. Who is Tricky? So many questions, so few people who actually read my posts... danke, einexile

808 State's Graham Massey was contributing to the album, it was produced by Nellee Hooper - I'm not sure what happended to the BDP collaboration there was rumours of some time ago. Tricky is a weird little fella, who used to rap for Massive Attack. His 'Maxinquaye' solo album is one of the best this year, IM(and every fuckin' trendie's)HO...

As well as the tracks with Tricky, Bjork apparently worked with Howie B (Bernstein). He's part of Skylab, and a general Mo' Wax legend. BDP? Oh man, I did it again. Is there anyone else out there who thinks of Boogie Down Productions, rather than Black Dog, when they read BDP? *sigh* Shows my bias I guess. To complete the thought, the last track on the first "Army Of Me" single (the one with Astro-Bjork on the cover) is a collaboration with Black Dog. - Adam J Weitzman Individual, Inc. weitzman@individual.com "All I ask of myself is that I hold together." - Ned's Atomic Dustbin

Tricky still works with Massive Attack. He's one of the guest collaborators. His new disc has gone over pretty big here in the States, probably due to his tour opening for that suck PJ Harvey. He's big on strange beats and invokes a lot of weirdness into his tunes. Melodic, yet strange as hell. The Aftermath (I could be looking for people remix) would fit on to a Mo Wax compilation just fine. I wouldn't be surprised if his solo disc catches on like Portishead did 6 months ago. MC
