I've just bought the new FSOL album ISDN. It is based on some live transmissions they made to various radio stations and also the smoking japenese babe stuff. It's much better than 'lifeforms' (which I liked a lot). Be warned though - it was released yesterdat and only 10,000 copies were pressed across all formats. It was also deleted yesterday! So if you like the sound of it buy it shapish! This all sounds a bit like a cynical marketing move by FSOL to try and shift a load of copies quickly, but I was going to buy it anyway and it is definitely worth getting hold of. leon On now: "The Second Coming" by The Stone Roses (see, its not all IDM!)

I had no trouble finding it either. It's a fine album. My favourite tracks are "Dirty Shadow" and "Egypt". Especially "Egypt" is simply astounding. - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se <http://www.update.uu.se/~chris/>

I just got off the phone with Caroline Records, and they say that there are no plans to release ISDN domestically. I say this because several folks have sent me mail saying they heard it would be out here. I should've bought more copies, but I too am subject to Murphy's law, and had I bought more than 15, it would've come out domestically and I would've been stuck with them. System 7's Fire and Water albums will be out as a 2-CD set (under the moniker 777 again, to the delight of Apple Computer) on the 24th. Dave ObNow: John Cage "4'33"

ISDN was released domestically. I picked up a copy the week before Christmas. Although it was the same as the import it was 1.) shrink-wrapped and 2) $11.99. Astralwerks, not Caroline is distributing them.

If Astralwerks is distributing them, then Caroline is, since it's the same distribution apparatus. Virgin owns Caroline owns Astralwerks, more or less. C. -- cspot@hyperreal.com (Chris.Hilker) ...electro-spiritual in composition...

Correct. In my haste to respond I failed to note that. What I meant to say was that It was not being released on Caroline (therefore Caroline wouldn't know as much about the release as the people at Astralwerks, who had mailed as the post and were in charge of distributing the import as a domestic).

I guess this depends on your definition of a domestic release: AW>From: AWerks@aol.com AW>Date: Sun, 11 Dec 1994 21:57:36 -0500 AW>Message-Id: <941211215622_3606293@aol.com> AW>To: idm@medisg.Stanford.EDU AW>Subject: FSOL- ISDN AW>We've brought in 9800 copies of the CD to the U.S. Because of the very AW>fragile package, we will be shrinkwrapping them thus won't be fully releasing AW>them until January 3. While in Seattle (actually Bellingham) over Winter break I discovered a CD by a Seattle band named, guess what, System 7. This could be the real reason that System 7 calls themselves 777 in the US. It doesn't seem as fishy as the whole threat of lawsuits by Apple Computer. [fletcher]

Further Info about ISDN: I tried to order some more ISDN through Caroline Distribution. My sales person said that all of the ISDN copies Astralwerks had brought over the the US are sold out. Gone. He also confirmed that they had been selling ISDN to indie stores around the end of December. The phone conversation took place 01/10/95 end kdc Internet:kirkd@xmission.com

I know somebody mentioned a domestic release for FSOL:ISDN, don't remember if they said the date though. I just called Tower mail order, and they said it is supposed to be out domestically on March 1st. I guess I'll have to wait, because nobody has been able to find a copy for me.
