This whole "guitar" debate is just getting ridiculous. IDM is not some sacred
formula like Christianity. Guitars are not heretical. If you doubt, trip back
in time to 1972 (or thereabouts... uncle jonnie's brain isn't what it once was)
and slap on Fripp & Eno's "No Pussyfooting." More experimental, intelligent and
out there than a truckful of Aphex Twerps. And guess what... most of it was
done with guitars.
To answer another's posting, yes, Underworld use guitars. And good for them; I
love it! Listen to the Underworld remix of "Lush" by Orbital. GUITARS! Shock!
Horror! Best thing on the "Diversions" CD if you ask me.
I think I'll dust off my guitar tonight.
