'Ambiento A Fax Compilation' REFCD001 (Reflective Records 415 495 6212) This hasn't been far from the CDPlayer for a week. Definitely ambient, but with beats throughout. Sounds like minimalist electronic jazz almost, in that most of the cuts sound performed rather than sequenced. A must. 'On Remixes' Aphex Twin Warp WAP 39 CDR May be old news to you guys, but this is the definite stuff. The 'd-scape' mix sounds like the rhythm track comes from someone pinching their cheek and wiggling it (an old schoolyard trick), but delightfully hypnotic. The reload mix is also nice and is also contained on the US Sire 'On' single. 'Ritual of Life/An Accident in Paradise' Sven Vath Warner Brothers 9 41403-2 For pure quantity, this can't be beat -- two songs, nine remixes (most of which bear only coincidental resemblance to the original), clocking at 74 minutes. I got it for $6 US. This is my first Sven Vath disc, and while it's a little more dancy than my usual taste I like it quite a bit. Of particular interest are the spicelab mixes, which are trippy in the extreme. Well, next time I post, I'll try and be more specific ...
