this cd was one of my *finds* last summer, never get tired of it. flows the whole sit down and listen through with the exception of one track nearing the end which still disturbs me to this day (sounds like a 1950's mainframe gone mental, take a listen you'll see!). Cover art includes a language unknown to me, and an amiable looking guy with a giant pen pierced through his nose(its worth the purchase just for this!) Great compilation, tribal influenced(not overly so tho'), deep warm bass(a must), lotsa birds, liquid synth lines, and some soaring ethnic vocals. *brilliant*. tracks include new 'exquisite corpse', speedy j's 'pepper' and from new lesser know artists such as drome, sandoz, A.Falconer(ala orb), cirrus minor, nonplace urban field, spyra,& marmion. Spyra's 'city of glass' is my pick(definite one for the headphones): feels like you're going to drift out of your chair enticed by a soft, warm wind, sacred chimes echo in the distance- you start to float on a sea of deep liquescent bass, then rise throgh an ether-real auralscape void of sight, and touch -then you drift back down through the layers to unite once again with the wind, and a physical reality- which seems somewhat fresher, enhanced and a joy to be in. I haven't come accross anything quite like this cd, in its variety and smoothness(but try exquisite corpse's 'inner light' <kk, belgium>,& 'feed your head' compilation on planet dog). The only liner note reads "you can be sure of one thing: these people have no reason to waste their energy through the windows..."-"if windows they have". Well my window has been shattered, and after certain experiences with this cd I can now say I see the one true reality- that of pure happiness. "it is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong." ________q_r_i_s___________________(kblohm@cln.etc.bc.ca)____________/
