The album certainly is fantastic. I've been playing it all week. The only
singles on it are Cowgirl (the flip side of Rez) and Skyscraper. The album
is called DUBNOBASSWITHMYHEADMAN. There is one ultra bassy track called rivers
of bass which gives a lovely deep rumble on my reflex speakers. There is
plenty of vocal included. Some of it plain songs others snippets or words.
But its very refreshing to hear songs on techno records. Dirty Epic deals
with phone sex but who knows about Cowgirl or Skyscraper. I have the second
two singles: Rez/Cowgirl and Spikee/Dog Man Goes Woof. The Cowgirl is the
same mix but there are three more great tracks here. I haven't seen the
first single Mmmm Skyscraper I Love You so can't comment about what's on it.
However, I am trying to track it down second hand and seriously recommend
all their releases. I love their recent treatment of One Dove's Why Don't
You Take Me and also the Bjork's One Day plus many others. The next single
will be Dark and Long - the first track on the album and another classic.
Also worth a mention is Spoonman from the album which is in the Rez/Cowgirl
style.
I predict that 1994 will do for Darren Emmerson and Underworld what 1993 did
for Andrew Weatherall and Sabre of Paradise.
I've got tickets to see Underworld play in Brighton's Zap club as my final
club in the UK before temporarily moving to Houston. I saw them live at last
October's Megadog and they blew me away.
Catch them whilst they're hot - Clive
