as the IDM list-owner, I thought that this needed to be said.
I recently saw IDM referred to as the "Richard James fan club" and though
it amused me endlessly, I just thought that a few things should be said. I
know there are people on this list who dont particularly care for RJs work
and there are others, myself included, who worship the ground he walks on
:). However, IDM is here for all "intelligent" music - therefore, all
views, ideas, and contributions are more than welcome. Also, there are so
many mailing lists out there now that subjects are beginning to overlap and
lists are forced to become more specific in their coverage. A recent topic,
specifically the headshell thing, was not really appropriate to this list,
more to the bpm DJ list, but following it up with a barrage of posts on
its inappropriateness (heh) would be just as inappropriate and unnecessary.
I dont want to be stiff about this, it just needs to be said. Many thanks
to all who have contributed anything to this list, esp Brian B for the
setup, Jon D for his IDM times, and Ben M - our resident AFX-pert. :)
