Oh yeah, one other thing that had a profound impact on my taste in music
(and definitely didn't hinder my dispisal of electric guitar, although
this was after I bought a Gary Numan album, which at that time convinced
me the guitar was beyond obsolete ;) ...
When I was 11, Cheap Trick was on the same airplane I was on, and the guy
with glasses who used to always wear the black and white sweater with the
music notes on it called me a "little nerd." <:(

"Sophisticated Boom Boom" still qualifies as one of the greatest
post-Sylvester funky queer disco albums ever, IMHO! Way better than their
new-wavey crossover stuff.
