check out these two sites. www.moldover.com www.controllerism.com I think you will find a wealth of knowledge there and you will find alot of info on commercial controllers and how to build your own custom. (good stuff!!!) i too work in ableton and reason and a few other progs. If you want to collaborate on some works let me know.
