oh ah .. I have actually seen this ..
its quite cool ' and worth a look .. it's not very visual but helps to
show what tracks are playing and for how long . so you can begin
to see how complex the mix really is.
The actual ' quality of the sound mix in 5.1 is good as well. With
distinct parts of the sound arriving from different directions.
Not to ride Ritchie . but his lead is the future for electronic music.
The whole audio world is secretly trying to figure out how to go
surround and lead the way with full blown surround performance.
Electronic producers have the advantage of working from a midi
basis, with instrument environments completely engaged with
digital control devices. Which is essentially what you need to
fluently manage a mix in 5.1 directions.
My primary issue with 5.1 is the .1 .. In terms of interesting
sound space Bass sound has the most dynamic range for creating
movement or strong bodily sensations of dimension.
Of course you run against a fine line of time alinement's and phase
cancellations ' but these are actually your tools not your enemies.
..
Sadly I have no idea where the Concept 5.1 dvd came from.
It was a flyby Techno immersion session while a friend selected
records for a gig. We were in and out in 20mins.
