If I'm understanding you, you're looking for Relative Session View
Mapping. Go into Midi or Key mapping mode, then look at the area of
the Session where you normally see the clip status "pie charts".
Instead of clip stop buttons, you'll see play arrows. Now, look in
the same row, underneath the Scene launch buttons. You'll see a few
buttons there that didn't exist before: Another play button (this one
for scenes), an up and down arrow and a number value box.
You can assign a button or key to each of the scene up/down arrows to
move through the session, or assign a relative controller to the
number value box to select scenes. With keys set to each track's play
button, you can launch any existing clip or begin recording a new one.
Try it, you'll like it.
