OK, a few bits and pieces on Young Master Fake. He was tipped for stardom in The Observer Music Monthly recently: <http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,1689124,00.html> FYI, "...Now returning to Border Community, Nathan Fake is set to release his debut album 'Drowning In A Sea Of Love', a truly enchanting collection of rocktronica at its finest - loaded with casio riffs, soaring fake-guitar lead lines, single live take recordings and a heap of lighters-in-the-air moments. Containing the original live take of the psychedelic epic 'The Sky Was Pink' (prior to its remix transformation into the electro anthem of last summer), in addition to recent 7" 'Grandfathered' this is a ballsy, gutsy eleven track wall of computer-noise, underlined by a rock-solid production ethic which belies Fake's tender years..." [from <http://www.progressive-sounds.com/features/Nathan-Fake-Drowning-In-A-Sea-Of-Love.asp>] I know it's only 'progressive house', but (for some reason) I like it. Also noticed the following in Philip Sherburne's blog at <http://www.philipsherburne.com/> January 25, 2006 Drowning in a sea of love The first 62 seconds of Apparat's remix of Nathan Fake's "Charlie's House" ? give or take a few uncountable milliseconds spent exhaling ? are enough to send me to my knees, arms thrown up like Willem Defoe in Platoon. Possibly the most perfect minute of music I've heard yet this year. Viva electremo! Not sure where this Apparat remix is available though. alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
