Think Alanis Morrisette - little self-referential vignettes about overcoming
shitty times masquerading as songwriting. Apparently it's pretty big with 12
step program attendees and girls who just got dumped. Like many subgenres,
there's a small legion of rabid fans that will defend it's uniqueness to the
death.
