absolutely true. just as having too narrow a taste (or creative bent) can be bad, so can not
being discriminating enough. many people who don't care for genres proudly proclaim "i like
everything" (often with one disclaimer for rap, country, or opera); these people often mean "i
have no discerning taste".

true. some genres are so underground, so insular in sound or culture, that for them to
"break out" of any of their self-imposed restraints means that they have crossed those
boundaries into something else. if you start with nothing but clicks and cuts, but then add
4-on-the-floor i guess you are moving into minimal techno. add some more synths on top
of that and it's no longer minimal, add a guitar and you're doing indietronica. it's both
exciting and silly at the same time.

i definitely appreciate d&b's influence more than the thing itself, at least what i understand it
to be.
