Certainly, the music is the focus of a release, but packaging and
presentation can set the stage for the listener experience.
Raster-Noton does a fantastic job of packaging their releases. Just
seeing the way they present the music makes me want to hear more of
it. I have a few of the POST series, and I want to hear the rest. I
have some of the Static series, and I'd love to hear the rest. With
Raster-Noton, the packaging and the music work together flawlessly.
I'm always interested to see how a certain artist will interpret the
idea behind the series for which they're creating that particular
music.
Yes, the music is the point, but I sure do appreciate when someone
makes an effort to present it in interesting and/or exciting ways (see
also Ae + Hafler Trio, or any other Hafler stuff, for that matter).
