How can you be so sure about giving up? Have you never felt insecure about
your own talent (I'm assuming you're also some sort of producer or composer
or musician here? I've listened to both tracks, and altough I haven't found
them to be totally amazing or extremely original, they've kept me interested
enough to listen until the end and also gave me some ideas I will probably
try in my own tunes. "Lost" is a lot more interesting than "days", IMO.
I wouldn't give up if I were you, Matt, that's for sure, doesn't matter if
you can call it IDM or not. Keep making music.
I've been making noise with computers for about 10 years and I still don't
know which genre do I "belong" to. This word "belong" is in my opinion one
of the main things that leads artists into applying labels to their own
music. It's the human need of belonging to some movement, genre, which
implies, ways opf thinking, eating, dressing, hanging out, taking drugs,
etc.
I don't know If I'm right so I'm going to stop.
