I have some questions.
#1
I'm a DJ/producer/promoter trying to bring experimental "higher quality"
music/art to a relatively culturally dry area. The lower Rio Grande Valley,
TX. I'm basically building a scene from scratch. I know some of you out
there must have experience in scene building and interest generating. I'm
desperate for suggestions. Everything from creating the right atmosphere, to
guerrilla marketing techniques. Any help is appreciated!

I've been DJing for around 5yrs or so. I'm pretty eclectic in my taste;
spinning everything from Stan Getz to Squarepusher, from Blackalicious to
Venitian Snares, From Danny Elfman to Nina Simone. My staple is DnB, Click
Hop, and Industrial. First my statement; I still, after all these years,
have the hardest time beat matching. Sometimes I get it. Most of the time it
drives me insane. Am I the only one with this problem? Is it like being
color blind? Is there any thing I can do about it?
