Here's a few recent (2004-2005) albums I think of as summery, or at
least doable for summer listening:
M.I.A. - Arular (xl)
(just fun fun fun, I know I'll be playing it all summer)
Jimi Tenor - Beyond The Stars (kitty-yo)
(Not exactly IDM, but the ultimate summer joy album for me)
Underscore - The Conspiracy of Silence (enpeg)
(refreshingly different release, works for me, only $2...)
Solvent - Elevators And Oscillators (ghostly intl.)
(I second this one; wouldn't have thought it summery
on my own, but it definitely is)
Vim - Perpetual Autumn (monotonik)
(despite the title, light & summery, and free!)
Lateduster - Easy Pieces (merck)
(laid back in your garden music for sure)
Secret Freqrency Crew - Forest of the Echo Downs (schematic)
(perhaps overhyped by now, but good, and summery,
of the hot & sweaty type)
Mr. Projectile - Sinking (merck)
(also maybe overhyped by now, but I enjoyed it last summer)
Deceptikon - Lost Subject (merck)
(laid back drinkin' beers music for sure)
I hope any of this is helpful to someone :P
